Forming Healthy Habits: Tiny Important Changes for a Better Version of You!

We cannot become what we want by remaining what we are – Max  De Pree

Now that Summer is nearly over, we see less adverts & read less articles related to ‘Summer Beach Bodies’. Well done those who got through their goals & popular ’30 day beach body challenges’ posted by hundreds of bloggers & Health Magazines.

It might sound sad for some of you to say Goodbye to hot Sunny days, (Thank you London for another warm Summer this year!) & I can feel already Autumn air is slowly knocking on my windows… On the other side, it’s perfect time to switch your focus from one off Summer goal dieting & exercising, into focusing & forming better habits for yourself. Think Summer next year again if it helps!

Going through journey of changes in order to establish better habits for your everyday life is never easy, & you might agree that forming healthy habits requires dedication, discipline & certain time to adapt to it. I’ve come across many articles where it states that forming ‘good habits’ takes 21 days. Personally, I would not completely agree with this statement, as the exact timing might depend on a variety of factors & it’s important to consider that some habits require long time to form. Saying that, here’s my first challenge to those who wish to form healthier eating habits.

Firstly: try this for 21 days & your body will get used to avoid unhealthy food! Afterwards, continue sticking to this plan without counting days.

· No Candy
· No Cake
· No Chips
· No white Bread
· No fast food
· No chocolate
· No Ice cream

The photo below illustrates 4 healthy swap choices I did recently.

Healthy Swaps
Healthy Swaps

Fruits: are very low calorie content, rich in vitamins and minerals. Citrus fruits like orange, kiwi, fresh limes are perfect fat burners & boost metabolism. Other fat-burning fruits are apple, watermelon, grapes & strawberries. My tip: add fruits in your breakfast & have them as snacks before your lunch time.

Avocado: one of my favourite fruits! They contain Vitamins A,B,C,E & K, fiber & potassium on top with folic acid which helps to maintain healthy heart & control blood pressure. They are the great source of good fats that help weight loss, avoid heart disease & eating Avocados helps promote brain health! My tip: you can eat them as part of your breakfast, lunch or dinner or have them as a snack as well. My favourite meals/snacks recipes with Avocado will be shared with you soon.

Almond Milk: Also dairy milk is known for its high content of various vitamins & minerals, almonds have been proven to contain extra nutrients. Almond milk prepared from almonds is low in fat, high in energy, proteins, lipids & fiber. It contains vitamins like calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, & zinc. The other nutrients available in this milk include vitamins such as vitamin C, B-6, vitamin E. All these nutrients have various benefits which are essential for a healthy body. I use Almond milk for my breakfast meals & in coffees. It’s just ‘Yam’ for me!

Still struggling a bit without proper salty food I must admit, particularly considering my Georgian roots where I grew up eating proper salty/cheesy but delicious meals. Therefore, as I have mentioned earlier in this post, some habits take longer than 21 days to get used to it based on my personal experience. But keep on trying & don’t give up!

So get ready for your Autumn Challenge & think long term: a better version of you! Let’s remind ourselves with popular 3C’s in life: Choice, Chance & Change.  Willing to make some changes? You must make a choice & take chance,  otherwise your life will never change.

  1. This is so inspiring and very motivational. 3C is so true. Though its hard to get out of the comfort zone, change is difficult:) But we should try. I cant fully go cold Turkey on all bad items, but will do my best to cut all the processed and fatty foods from my diet.

    1. Glad you find it motivational! Let’s keep trying & no matter what, don’t give up : ) Our bodies have to get used to small changes gradually – specifically when it comes to food swap and giving up on things we ‘love’. Therefore, taking small steps at a time and finding healthier alternative choices is easier than e.g. cutting off completely something out. Swapping foods to healthier options made it simpler nowadays for most of us to make better/healthier choices, also people should get more awareness of it.
